Cambodia Celebrates National Science, Technology & Innovation Day 2024

Phnom Penh, March 25, 2024 – Cambodia's second National Day of Science, Technology, and Innovation commenced today at the Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre, inaugurated by Prime Minister Hun Manet. The three-day event, running from March 24 to 26, 2024, is a testament to the Royal Government's dedication to fostering innovation as a pathway to achieving middle-income status by 2030 and high-income status by 2050.

Organized by the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation, the event boasts a collaboration of state institutions and the private sector. It aims to spotlight the crucial role of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in leveraging science and technology to enhance productivity, efficiency, and value.

In his opening speech, Prime Minister Hun Manet emphasized the event's theme, "Small and Medium Enterprises Towards Science, Technology, and Innovation," highlighting it as a strategic direction from the Royal Government to integrate technology in production processes.

Hem Vandy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation, outlined the event's goals to foster cooperation among all national innovation system stakeholders. He stressed its importance in raising awareness among policymakers, researchers, and the private sector about the significance of science, technology, and innovation in advancing productivity and progress for SMEs.

The event showcases 228 booths, including 15 food and beverage booths, educational and higher education institutions, new businesses, and development partners, open to the public and aiming to bridge the gap between science, technology, innovation, and practical applications in Cambodia's growing economy.
